Barry Korcheski (aka. BAZ) (Nelson NZ)
Born near Niagara Falls, Ontario Barry has performed across Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and on several cruise ships. While living in Canada Barry began performing with local bands in Ontario and Quebec and then moved on to Vancouver and joined the quartet “Opus” as keyboardist. Opus became one of Vancouver's top bands for venues including the Sheraton-Landmark, Gleneagles Golf & Country Club, Back Stage Lounge and Casablanca Restaurant. Barry also played the Hammond Organ and bass keyboard and at various bars and cocktail venues in Vancouer. As a soloist Barry performed in the Vancouver/Whistler region at venues such as La Notte Restaurant, The Vancouver Club, Terminal City Club, Pier Restaurant, Westin Bayshore, the Vancouver Press Club and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. In the United States Barry was a lead performer at “Alley Cats”, a premier music/comedy revue and as cocktail pianist at the Holliday Inn in Dallas for three years. Barry's contracted with cruise ships over the years included the Pacific Princess “Love Boat”, Holland America Cruises, Norwegian Crusie Lines and P&O Cruises covering tours to Alaska, United States, Australia, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific. In 2002 Barry moved to Nelson, New Zealand and now performs as a soloist and with other local professional musicains and ensembles including: Karina Kallil, Not Too Dry, Los Galanes, KoolTones Organ Trio, the Moonlighters, Dixie Swing Band and the Raf & Baz Duo. He has also performs regularly at the Nelson School of Music and at special events at various Retirement Villages around Nelson.
