Sharee Richings Ceremonies (Chch)

What will I do?

Foremost, I will listen.

My next most important job is to guide you through the legal process of getting married and conducting a marriage ceremony.

Then I will write a ceremony that is about you both and your story, what marriage means to you and what your future looks like. It will be a personal writing that will reflect your love for each other. It can be as formal, casual or whacky as you want it. I firmly believe that nothing is normal and you can customize your ceremony anyway you want.

A Wedding Rehearsal is essential and I will attend this to help you finalize the small details, go over the order of events on the day, choreograph how the ceremony will look, assist people with readings and speeches if required, liaise with venue staff, photographers, videographers if needed. The rehearsal will also be an opportunity to iron out any last-minute issues.

THE DAY HAS ARRIVED!!

In order to make sure that everything is going to be perfect for you I will arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony time and check everything is in order.

Then the ceremony. This is the important bit!! A ceremony is a celebration of a change in one's life.  It should symbolize the transition from one part of life to the next. People should feel that a change has happened, both the bridal couple and their guests, and I want to write ceremonies that reflect that change. I am not happy writing a good ceremony, I want to write GREAT ceremonies!

After the ceremony has been completed and there is nothing more I can do for you I will email away the documentation to the Department of Internal Affairs so that they can send your Wedding Certificate.  You should receive it in the mail within 10 days of your ceremony.

What is the plan?

We will schedule a first meeting to see if we fit together. Finding the right Celebrant for your day is really important and sometimes I might not be the right person. I get that and will not be offended if you choose not to engage me. If you want I can offer recommendations of someone that might work for you better.

Once you have booked me for your wedding date, and paid a deposit to secure the booking, we will meet again and I will give you some resources to help you make decisions:

Based on meetings, emails, chats (usually with decent coffee) and a helpful questionnaire, I then write a personalized ceremony for you to consider. Together we fine-tune it until you are 100% happy with it.  I am happy to make changes up until the morning of the ceremony and even then if you change your mind about something we may be able to adapt it.

I'll remind you to get your marriage license organized at an appropriate time.

An invoice will be sent to your three weeks before the ceremony as the remaining fee is due two weeks prior to the wedding date.

Rehearsals are a SUPER good idea. They help everyone involved to be calm and confident on the day. I will co-ordinate the rehearsal for you, this is usually the day before but can be up to a week before depending on timing and the venue.

On the day, I will make sure that everything is ready to go, people are where people need to be, that everyone has the best experience possible and most of all you both come away feeling as though you just got married!
